The new Swiss system league has really taken off in Worcester with all players agreeing that it makes for a far more
competative season! Two sessions of ten have now been played to determine exactly who will be season 5 champions.
The thriller on the night was the 1-1 draw between club heavyweights Shearman and Cook. "That was the biggest point I
have taken in league subbuteo" exclaimed the Shearminator. Alan has missed session one so needs to beat me every time
we meet if he wants to retain his title!" Cook, displaying great form on his comeback night had this to say... "The standard has
improved yet again, this has to be the closest season so far... it could go to any of 3 or 4 players in the new league
system,"
Club chairman and possible title contender Tim Lovell had this to say... "This new system has really shaken things up, You
just can't call it. I had the Shearminator really rattled with my wonder strike of the millenium... but he displayed true grit to
fight back and take all the points. I've seen that determination in all of the players tonight. They've never wanted it so bad!
This really is going to be an enthralling season of Legends!"
Hereford Coach Richard Bridges was upbeat about his clubs poor start. "The extra point awarded us for nearly keeling
over on the red cloth had lifted the spirit of the players. I'd like to call it a new start!"
